“Operation Opportunity Initiative” to help W.Va. veterans with free hotel rooms
Published: July 14, 2015CHARLESTON, West Virginia – Hilton Worldwide and WorkForce West Virginia announce “Operation Opportunity Initiative”, which will provide hotel accommodations to assist veterans with job interviews, skills training, housing searches, and any employment testing that would make travel a necessity during a job search. The rooms will be provided at no charge to the veteran. This new program is in addition to the company’s plan to hire 10,000 veterans for various positions.
The program is available for veterans, current military servicemen and women, National Guard, Reserve members, and eligible spouses.
The accommodations will be implemented through the HHonors Rewards Program which is currently offered to Hilton Worldwide customers and members who sign up for the program and accumulate points through hotel stays at Hilton Worldwide hotels. Operation Opportunity Initiative provides eligible service members and veterans an award of 100,000 points once they have registered with WorkForce West Virginia, applied for a HHonors Program account, and completed the application at the local WorkForce West Virginia office.
WorkForce West Virginia staff will verify eligibility, job search activity, and also assist veterans with the application process at local offices throughout the state. The staff will be able to utilize the HHonors Program as another method to help current service members, prior service members, and their spouses gain employment faster and more easily than ever before.
On average, the 100,000 HHonors rewards points will be the equivalent to three nights in Hilton Worldwide Hotels, though rates and reward totals vary by location. Hilton Worldwide Hotels include Hampton, Doubletree, Conrad, Hilton Garden Inn, Embassy Suites, Waldorf Astoria, Homewood Suites, Home 2, Hilton, and Hilton Grand Vacations.
