Federal dollars to support 250 temporary jobs for flood clean-up

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito, and Congressmen Evan Jenkins and Alex X. Mooney today announced that West Virginia has secured a $3.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to offer 250 temporary jobs for flood disaster clean-up activities in the 12 counties under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster declaration. All WorkForce West Virginia offices now open to assist with claims

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – WorkForce West Virginia today announced that Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) benefits will be expanded to include qualifying persons residing or working in Clay, Fayette, Monroe, Roane, Summers, Pocahontas and Webster counties. Residents and workers in Kanawha, Greenbrier and Nicholas Counties were declared eligible earlier this week. Read more.

ATTENTION: Important Information

Effective March 1, 2016, the electronic payment card for receiving unemployment compensation benefits will be the Key2Benefits MasterCard. Payments issued on March 1, 2016 and thereafter will be loaded to this card. New claims filed during this transition period may receive both a Chase VISA card (current provider) and a Key2Benefits MasterCard. Funds will last be loaded to the Chase VISA card on February 29, 2016. You will be able to access any remaining funds on the Chase VISA card after the changeover. However, funds may not be transferred from the Chase VISA card to the Key2Benefit MasterCard.
