The Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) helps people who are getting unemployment benefits find work faster.
RESEA has four main goals:
- Help people find jobs more quickly so they don’t stay unemployed for a long time.
- Make sure that people who receive unemployment benefits meet the requirements and are eligible to receive them.
- Support the goals of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) , which aims to improve job opportunities for everyone.
- Connect people with other organizations that can help them find work.
If you are chosen for the RESEA program, you will receive a letter in the mail and an email from WorkForce WV letting you know that you must complete an Assessment Interview. A link will be provided so that you can select the date and time that works best for you within a particular week. The Assessment Interview will be done virtually using a video call service like Microsoft Teams. You will need to have internet access and a computer with a camera or a mobile device for the appointment. If you do not have access to the internet, a computer with a camera, or a mobile device you will need to contact your local office, email workforceRESEA@wv.gov, or call 1-800-252-JOBS (5627) for assistance.
During the Assessment Interview the following things will happen:
- Your eligibility for unemployment benefits will be assessed one-on-one.
- Your current employment status will be confirmed.
- Your job search activities will be reviewed.
- You will receive help in creating a plan to find a new job.
- You will get personalized information about careers and the job market.
- You will be enrolled in the Wagner-Peyser Employment Service, which can assist you in finding work.
- You will learn about other services and resources available at American Job Centers to help get you back to work.
- You will be scheduled for a second Assessment Interview approximately two weeks later so WorkForce WV can check on your progress and provide you will additional assistance if needed.
It’s important to note that if you are chosen for the RESEA program, you must attend and participate in the Assessment Interviews. Failure to attend and participate in the Assessment Interviews may result in a delay or denial of their unemployment insurance benefits.
